Magpie Studios LLC ("we," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information MacJanitor collects, what we do with it, and what we never touch.
When you ask MacJanitor to analyze your disk, the following information is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for contextual analysis:
/Users/you/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari).~/Documents, ~/Desktop, ~/Downloads, Mail, Messages, Photos, or other personal-content folders.
Your Anthropic API key is stored exclusively in your Mac's Keychain. It is
never transmitted to Magpie Studios servers (we have none), never written
to disk in plain text, never logged, and never sent anywhere except
directly to api.anthropic.com when you initiate an analysis.
You can revoke or change the key at any time via MacJanitor → Settings.
None. MacJanitor has no server-side component. We do not collect crash reports, usage analytics, performance metrics, or behavioral data of any kind from the application itself. The app's only outbound network traffic goes to Anthropic's API when you ask it to analyze your disk.
Separate from the app, our marketing website at magpiestudios.app uses cookie-based analytics with your consent — see the next section for the full disclosure. The analytics applies only to website visits, never to use of the installed app.
Our marketing website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate visit patterns — how many people visit, which pages they look at, what countries they come from, and which channels they arrive through (e.g. Instagram, LinkedIn, direct).
Consent before any cookies. When you first visit magpiestudios.app, you'll see a small banner asking whether you accept analytics. Until you click "Accept," no analytics cookies are set and Google receives only aggregate, non-identifying signals (via Google's Consent Mode). If you click "Accept," analytics cookies are set so we can count unique returning visitors and see how the site is used over time. If you click "Decline," the cookies are never set and your visit is not individually attributed.
What we DON'T receive from Google Analytics:
Google's processing of the data on their side is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. To change your consent later, clear your browser's site data for magpiestudios.app and reload — the consent banner will reappear.
Because MacJanitor sends data directly to Anthropic's API, Anthropic's own privacy policy governs how that data is handled on their side. We encourage you to review it at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
Purchases of MacJanitor are processed by an external Merchant of Record ("MoR"). The MoR collects and stores your payment information (credit card, billing address, email) under its own privacy policy, which will be linked on the checkout page at the time of purchase. Magpie Studios LLC receives only your email address (for sending the download link and license key) and the country code from your billing address (for tax reporting purposes). We do not see, store, or have access to your payment card details at any point.
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. In short: you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, for any reason, by emailing support@magpiestudios.app.
Your use of MacJanitor is also governed by our Terms of Service & End User License Agreement, which include important disclaimers regarding data loss, warranty, and limitation of liability.
MacJanitor is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be announced via the download page at magpiestudios.app. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
